- FILE-NEW ASSISTANCE
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- The operation you have selected will define
- and create a new schedule structure according
- to the answers you provide in this screen.
-
- The first operation is to set the...
- ■ name,
- ■ minimum event size, and
- ■ the desired starting day/time.
-
- At each question, pressing the F1 key
- displays help for the current operation.
-
- Press ENTER once to remove this screen...

- %%CREATENAME
- ENTER THE NAME OF THE NEW SCHEDULE
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Enter the name that you wish to use for
- the new schedule.
-
- This name will be used to Open the schedule
- in the future.
-
- The schedule name is limited to eight
- characters - the extension will be added
- automatically by the program.
-
- %%CREATERESOURCES
- HOW MANY RESOURCE LINES TO ALLOW ?
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- How many resource lines should be provided
- in the new schedule ?
-
- The number of resources should be nominally
- larger than the total number of items that you
- are going to schedule.
-
- If you are setting up a staff schedule, then
- some number greater than the number of staff
- would be typical.
-
- The resources are the items down the left hand
- edge of the timesheet.
-
- %%CREATESIZE1
- SPECIFY THE SCHEDULE RESOLUTION
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Please enter the minumum event duration that
- should be allowed in the schedule.
-
- The field you are now entering is a number
- from 1 to 99, and indicates the number of
- units to allow as the minimum event duration.
-
- The next field selects what unit to use as
- the base duration of the schedule.
-
- Typical entries would resemble...
-
- 10 -and- Minutes
- 30 -and- Seconds etc...
-
- IMPORTANT:
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- If you choose a slot size that does not divide
- evenly into 24 hours, the slot boundaries will
- drift throughout the length of the schedule,
- since all slots are calculated as an offset
- from 00:00 midnight on the first of January
- 1970.
-
- This is not critical in normal use, since most
- applications will use resolutions that are
- typically based around multiples of tens
- of seconds.
-
- Refer to the manual for details on checking
- whether a particular slotsize will drift
-
- %%CREATESIZE2
- UNITS OF SCHEDULE RESOLUTION
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- This entry is a continuation from the previous
- field...
-
- You previously entered a value to indicate
- the number of units to allow as the minimum
- event duration.
-
- Now you must specify the units that should be
- used in conjunction with the previous entry...
-
- Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks
-
-
- IMPORTANT:
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- If you choose a slot size that does not divide
- evenly into 24 hours, the slot boundaries will
- drift throughout the length of the schedule,
- since all slots are calculated as an offset
- from 00:00 midnight on the first of January
- 1970.
-
- This is not critical in normal use, since most
- applications will use resolutions that are

-
- Refer to the manual for details on checking

-
- %%WEEKSTART
- WEEK START
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- The program has the ability to align the
- daily and weekly boundaries in sympathy with
- your scheduling preferences.
-
- Factories may start their 'roster week' on
- Thursday, but the administration department
- determines pay periods from Monday.
-
- Using the WEEK START facility enables you to
- specify any day as the beginning of the
- schedule week.
-
- The schedule will be displayed with correct
- alignment in time, but with the week indicators
- aligned to the chosen day when a display shows
- a range larger then 1 week.
-
- The NEXT...WEEK / PREV...WEEK function will
- align to the day specified in this field.
-
- Refer to DAY START for additional information.
-
- %%DAYSTART
- DAY START
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Different departments within a company may
- base their working day from a irregular
- reference time...
-
- EXAMPLE:
-
- The administrative department may start
- it's day at 09:00 in the morning, while the
- production department may be based on 8 hour
- shifts that start at 07:00... and
-
- ...The time prior to 07:00 is regarded as
- being a continuation of the previous day's
- production.
-
- By setting the DAY START time to any required
- value, (in this case 07:00 for the production
- dept) the display will align day markers and
- base any extended moves on the specified time.

- DEFINE DATA WINDOW FOR THE NEW SCHEDULE
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Using the arrow keys and text, layout the
- window in the form that is most applicable to
- your needs for this schedule.
-
- Text and numbers may appear at any position in
- the window, however the underscore (_) and
- tilde (~) characters are reserved for field
- definitions.
-
- CTRL+W allows you to adjust the size of the
- data window with the arrow keys. Pressing
- ╝ ENTER will return to the layout mode.
-
- Pressing CTRL+L allows you to create line
- graphics (boxes etc) by moving with the
- cursor keys. The digit keys (1..4) allow
- you to select 4 different types of junction
- and line style.
-
- Pressing ENTER will cancel the linedraw mode.
-
- To complete the window layout,
- press CTRL+ENTER
-
- PLACING USER DATA FIELDS
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
-
- Use the underscore (_) character, to place
- variable fields anywhere in the window.
-
- These fields will be filled by the user at the
- time of creating or modifying an event.
-
- PLACING USER KEY FIELDS
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Key fields appear and are used in exactly the
- same way as data fields, with the added
- ability to search for the contents of a key
- field with the LOCATE menu functions.
-
- To specify a KEY field, one or more of the
- character positions must be occupied by a
- tilde (~) character.
-
- Use the LOCATE menu or F3 key to search for
- a particular value in key fields.
-
- ■ SAVE SPACE AND TIME - Do not designate a key
- field unless necessary, as each key field
- requires extra disk space, and will slow the
- operation of the program.
-
- %%CREATEGUIDE3
- NAME THE USER FIELDS
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- In the previous screen, you set up what the

- the user screen to values that the program
- can display when asking the user to make
- choices.
-
- Inside the small text box, you should type a

- LAYOUT DIARY WINDOW
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- In exactly the same way as we designed the
- timesheet window layout and field positions,
- we must also define a layout to be used in the
- diary displays if they are required.
-
- As before, you may switch between laying out
- the window, and adjusting the size of the
- rectangle until you are happy with the final
- result.
-
- In the diary, you may prefer to only use a few
- of the previously defined fields, so just
- place the underscores in the position of the
- desired fields. If you want to display exactly
- the same number of characters in data window
- fields, then you must keep a note of the
- length of the fields that you typed in before.
-
- If you indicate a field with fewer underscores
- inthe diary layout, the original texts will
- be cut short to fit into the diary display.
-
- At each question, pressing the F1 key
- displays help for the current operation.
-
- Press ENTER once to remove this screen...

- %%CREATEDIARYWDO
- CREATE DIARY LAYOUT
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- Now that you have specified the layout and
- fields to be used in this schedule, you should
- consider how you want the diary display and
- printout to appear.
-
- The diary contains a subset of the info
- that you defined for the schedule data window
- in the previous step...
-
- Use the same keys to position text and resize
- the diary window... and also use the
- UNDERSCORE character to define where your
- diary fields are to appear.
-
- You can also use the CTRL+L linedraw feature
- to create boxes and frames in the diary.
-
- After you press CTRL+ENTER to complete this
- layout phase, you will be able to specify
- which schedule field appears at each
- underscored location.

- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- You cannot move the current split boundary
- because it is 'jammed' between the two
- adjacent boundaries.
-
- Depending on the screen layout at the moment,
- you may MOVE the current split, or you may
- have to reposition the adjacent splits before
- moving the desired split boundary.
-

-
- %%NOUSERKEYS
- THERE ARE NO KEY FIELDS DEFINED
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- For a locate operation to search for a value
- in a field, the field must have been defined
- as a key field when the schedule was first
- created.
-
- Use the F2 key to list the available field
- names for display - however since none were
- set up as KEY fields (with the tilde char),
- you must search visually through the events
- by using CTRL+(SHIFT+) and the arrow keys.
-
- %%NOUSERFIELDS
- THERE ARE NO FIELDS DEFINED IN THIS SCHEDULE
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- When this schedule was created, no fields were
- setup on the data form with the UNDERSCORE (_)
- or keys with the TILDE (~) characters.

- Time values should be entered as Hrs:Mins...
- (HH:MM), or maybe you typed an O instead
- of the digit zero '0'
-
- Type the correct time over your last attempt,
- then press ╝ ENTER.

- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

- with respect to the cursor date and time.
-
- %%NOALARMFILE
- NO ALARM INDEX FILE !
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
- TimeTrak could not locate the .TLX file for
- this schedule. Check your system to ensure
- that the required TSD, TSX and TLX files are
- accessible to TimeTrak.
-
- You may choose to create a new alarm file...
- (Usually in the case of the original having
- been deleted for some reason),
- or Cancel the File-Open/Replace operation,
- which will return you to the state immediately
- prior to calling the File-Open function.
-
- %%NOALARMSEL

-
- ■ DOS CMD
- Using this type of alarm, you may perform
- any function under DOS that will fit in

- You may choose SLEEP, which will tell the
- alarm to go away, then reschedule itself to
- remind you again at a later time.
-
- Alternately, you may elect to CANCEL the
- alarm, which will remove ■ this ■ alarm
- permanently. Note that if other alarms have
- previously been set for the same event,
- then they will remain unchanged.

-
- %%ALARMTRIG
- AN ALARM TRIGGER IS WAITING
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
-
- An alarm is due now !, but since you have some

- being delayed until you close the pop-up
- windows that are currently on screen.
-
- The status bar will flash every 5 seconds to
- remind you that the alarm is still waiting.
-
-
- %%INSALRMFAILD
- FAILED TO WRITE ALARM ENTRY
- ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
-
- TimeTrak failed to record the alarm details
- that you just created.
-
- This may be due to the fact that the alarm
- falls at the same time as another alarm that
- is attached to this event.
-
- Check the alarm list - to see if there is
- already an alarm of the same type at the
- required time.
-
-
- %%INVPLANR
- PLANNER PRINT RANGE WILL NOT FIT

-
- TimeTrak cannot fit the line format you
- requested with the slot size of the current
- schedule.
-
- Either the slots would show as 'less' than
- one character wide, or they would overflow
- the width of the page.
-
- Please consider the slot size of the schedule
- and select another line fitting size.
-

-
- You may only move and edit in the times
- bounded by Jan 1970, and ending in Feb 2038 AD
